Data Engineer (Data Governance)

EnterpriseDB is looking for a skilled and highly motivated Data Engineer with a focus on Data Governance to help shape our data infrastructure and ensure that our data management practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines, as well as implementing and enforcing data governance policies and procedures across our data ecosystem.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and information security personnel, to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility. What your impact will be:

  • Design, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant data management practices across the organization.

  • Build and maintain efficient, scalable, and robust data pipelines that support the ingestion, transformation, and storage of structured and unstructured data.

  • Develop and maintain metadata repositories to ensure that data definitions, lineage, and usage are well-documented and easily accessible.

  • Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

  • Work closely with the EDB’s Compliance and Information Security team

  • Partner with business units, data analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and establish data governance practices that meet business and regulatory needs.

  • Act as a liaison for data stewardship activities, ensuring that proper data ownership, classification, and access controls are established and maintained.

  • Create clear documentation for data governance processes, procedures, and standards. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on data governance best practices.

  • Stay updated on the latest data governance trends, tools, and technologies. Continuously enhance the governance framework and pipeline infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect with SQL & Python (Must)

  • Hands-on experience with Data Integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

  • Proficiency with maintaining PostgreSQL (Must) and experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred ).

  • Familiarity with data governance tools such as Collibra or Informatica.

  • In-depth understanding of data governance principles, data privacy laws, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR).

  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data issues and provide innovative solutions that balance governance requirements with business needs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with global technical and non-technical stakeholders.
